LNG Allies Hails Senate Permitting Bill

LNG Allies Statement on Senate Permitting Reform Bill
LNG Allies President and CEO Fred H. Hutchison: “This agreement would give USLNG project sponsors much-needed confidence that an approval, once granted, will not be undone years later in court. Some LNG export terminals and pipelines have been delayed by lawsuits filed long after permits were issued. Under this bill, a court that finds a flaw in an environmental review would send it back to the agency, and the project could keep building. DOE would also face firm deadlines to act on USLNG export applications. That predictability matters to project sponsors, lenders who finance the projects, and our allies in Europe and Asia who sign 20-year contracts for American energy. We thank President Trump and Sens. Capito, Lee, Whitehouse, and Heinrich for working across the aisle, and we urge the Senate to make this its first order of business in November.”
