With Many Unknowns, LNG Pause Could Set Back U.S. Projects By Several Years (NGI)
Jacob Dick (July 01): The DOE’s pause on non-FTA agreement permits for new USLNG projects has created uncertainty for at least 17 proposed projects. This includes seven advanced facilities in the United States and Mexico, representing a combined 9.3 bcfd in export capacity. Despite the pause, no U.S. firm with an advanced export project has officially pulled the plug since the pause began. However, the pause could delay most projects by at least a couple of years, according to Poten and Partners. The DOE is considering both the impacts on domestic natural gas prices and threats from climate change as part of the national interest. Link to Content
