Opinion: Rep. Kelly on Pause
Biden’s LNG ‘Pause’ Threatens Pennsylvania’s Natural Gas Industry (The Hill)
Rep. Mike Kelly (April 03): Pennsylvania’s thriving natural gas industry is under threat due to President Biden’s decision to pause pending USLNG export decisions. Since Pennsylvania is the second-largest natural gas-producing state we could be dramatically impacted by this decision. The Biden administration cites climate change as the reason for the pause. However, natural gas is the cleanest fossil fuel on the market today, abundant, and affordable. This pause forces short-sighted energy policy to fit broader political needs rather than what is in America’s best interest. The United States became the top global exporter in 2023 due to a huge growth in demand. If we can’t be relied upon as a stable partner then both domestic and international U.S. interests will be compromised. Link to Content
