Delfin’s First Floating Liquefaction Vessel Takes FID

Delfin Midstream announced FID on Delfin FLNG 1, the first floating liquefaction facility in the United States and the largest FLNG project globally, with expected export capacity of 4.4 mtpa. Concurrent with FID, a GIP-led investor group—including MOL, Vitol, and Diameter Capital Partners—committed financing for Phase 1. Long-term offtake agreements are in place with Vitol, Expand Energy, Centrica, and Gunvor. Construction contracts have been executed with Samsung Heavy Industries and Black & Veatch, with first LNG production targeted for Q3 2030. Delfin holds a deepwater port license from MARAD and DOE authorization for up to 13.2 mtpa across three FLNG vessels. The company expects to pursue FIDs on vessels two and three over the coming year.
