Sen. Manchin on USLNG Pause
Manchin Promises to Uncover Facts on LNG Pause (U.S. Senator Joe Manchin of West Virginia)
Sen. Joe Manchin (Jan. 26): Sen. Manchin (D-WV), Chairman of the U.S. Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee, pledged to uncover the facts behind the Administration’s pause on new export permits for USLNG sent to non-free trade agreement countries. He criticized the pause, likening it to the “ill-advised and unlawful pause on oil and gas leasing” previously attempted by the Administration. Sen. Manchin challenged the Administration to provide clear evidence that additional USLNG export capacity would harm Americans. However, if the pause was merely a political ploy to appease climate activists at the expense of American workers, businesses, and allies in need, he vowed to do everything in his power to end the pause immediately. He emphasized that America’s LNG policy should be based on facts, not politics. He also highlighted the benefits of USLNG, which has strengthened the U.S. economy, created jobs, supported the energy needs of allies around the world, and helped reduce global emissions. Sen. Manchin announced that he will hold a hearing on LNG in the coming weeks to reveal the facts about the market, the Administration’s motivations, and their implications. Link to Content
