Freeport LNG Shutdown Due to Hurricane Beryl
USLNG Production Halted Due to Hurricane Beryl (Upstream)
Benoît Morenne, Andrew Restuccia (July 10): USLNG terminal operator Freeport LNG has proactively shut down its three-train 15 mtpa liquefaction and export plant in Texas due to Hurricane Beryl. “We proactively ramped down production at our liquefaction facility on Sunday, July 7, ahead of Hurricane Beryl making landfall,” a Freeport LNG spokesperson said. Freeport LNG had just resumed full operations in May after trains 1 and 2 had been shut in following a fire at the facility in June 2022.
Meanwhile, Cheniere Energy’s 15 mtpa Corpus Christi LNG export project, also in Texas, remains in operation. Despite the hurricane, production shut-ins were minimal, according to officials from the BSEE. The American Petroleum Institute said that Beryl’s impacts on oil and gas infrastructure were “relatively minor”. Link to Content
