America’s Largest Natural Gas Producer Warns of Chilling Effect
America’s largest producer of natural gas warns Biden’s LNG export pause sends ‘chilling effect’ to industry (Fox Business)
Taylor Penley (Feb. 6): Toby Rice, president and CEO at EQT Corporation, America’s largest producer of natural gas, has expressed concerns over the Biden administration’s decision to pause new USLNG export licenses. Rice said that the policy is a “step in the wrong direction.” He warned that these types of executive orders send a chilling effect through the industries and the investors. EQT had ambitious plans to sell USLNG to international buyers in the future, but the new pause disrupts those plans. “Before this pause, it was expected that EQT would be able to directly reach the international market for LNG within three to four years.”
The decision has also raised concerns among other industry players, who are now considering the potential impact of US regulatory risk on the global LNG future. The full impact of this policy remains uncertain. Link to Content
