U.S. Targets Future Russian LNG in New Sanctions (High North News)
Malte Humpert (June 13): The United States has expanded its sanctions against Russia to include Arctic LNG 1, 2, and 3, Murmansk LNG, Obsky LNG, the Zvezda shipyard, specific LNG tankers, and more. According to CGEP’s Tatiana Mitrova (on LinkedIn), “These sanctions encompass all future NOVATEK projects and seven LNG carriers under construction at the Zvezda shipyard for the Arctic LNG 2 project. These sanctions pose significant challenges throughout the whole supply chain, from constructing LNG plants to transporting and marketing the LNG. The United States aims to ‘systematically reduce Russia’s future energy revenue.’” Link to Content
